Personal Creation - Steve
Not sure if this counts...but it is a bunch of photos of something I created :)

Food and treats are the only things I ever really make. Sadly, this is the latest capture I have lately.

Luke- Age

These pictures were taken at the Alaska Fair. Mckay and I were having fun taking some hip shots of random people. I'm not too experienced in editing but I just used the "enhance" option in i-photo. The first one I played around with the exposure and contrast because it was hard to see her face due to the lighting. Oh yeah, and I chose "age" as the theme because I work with elderly folks.
Age - McKay
I liked the facial expression and wrinkles of this woman.
Luke pointed out the unique juxtaposition of the second picture. Tortoises generally represent an old age, whereas kids and strollers represent youthfulness or a young age.

Age - Steve
When the word age is mentioned, I normally think of something old. It that context I've noticed that aged goods are either taken care of or they are neglected. I have yet to see any in between.
I've come across many classic cars in Alaska, some have been well maintained while others have been left to rot. It really is a shame :(

Random - McKay
The first picture is at Kincaid. I liked the reflections and the clouds.
The second picture was taken a couple winters ago. It was just a group shot of my friends, but I thought it came out nice. I cropped out my date to just get my married friends in this picture.

Random Photos From Valdez - Steve
Since there is no theme this week, I decided to share some captures from my Valdez adventure from a couple of weeks ago. The bear was the highlight...it was super cute! ^_^
Any thoughts or suggestions for improvement ?

Contrast - McKay
This is another self portrait; I was trying to get a picture that really showed the contrasting light so for this picture, I changed it to black and white and increased the contrast.
Scott Soule: Contrast
"Through the Light"I didn't have a chance to shoot this week so I stole I shot I took last month in Rexburg. But I took it with the same objective in mind, capturing contrast. I felt black and white helped display the intensity of the contrast. I had to use my hand as a camera hood to block unwanted light flares.

Contrast- Burtie
The picture that I really wanted to take was a close-up of an old lady holding a toddler, with the contrast between old and young really showing in their faces with the wrinkles vs. smooth skin. However, my stalking efforts at the local park did not pay off. So my next thought was light vs. dark. Lucky for me, when I went home to Utah for the weekend, there was a beautiful lightning storm in the valley. I took this picture at about 10:00 PM, with an aperture of 4.6 and shutter speed of 1/15 s. I like the contrast you can see between the dark clouds and the lightning, but also between the darkness of the right side of the photo versus the left side, where the sun was just setting and there were not the ominous thunderclouds.

The greatest contrasts are found in nature:
color, shapes, texture, life. here's the raw:

Contrast Assignment - Steve Young
When I think of contrast, I mostly think of white and black. Total opposites.
There are many things that can distract us in this world, it is a busy place. I find myself playing video games, reading adventure stories, or doing other things that are probably not the best use of my time.
I was reading through the New Testament this week and part of this verse stuck out at me while trying to think this assignment through.
John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
There is a lot of darkness in this world, but we are privileged to have access to the light as well.
